Ever since industrial hemp was legalized, CBD has become one of the hottest wellness supplements on the market. People take this popular cannabinoid for a number of reasons, including sleep, pain management, stress and anxiety, general wellness, and more. In fact, the UK’s CBD market is the second largest in the world.
It seems we are living in the Age of CBD.
As the demand for CBD has grown, there has been a great deal of innovation — not only in things like CBD oil extraction methods — but also on the fun side. Where once CBD users had to rely solely on CBD oil to take advantage of the wellness potential of cannabidiol, now CBD products are available in a variety of forms, from CBD gummies and CBD edibles to CBD topicals and, of course, CBD vaping products. And while it’s enjoyable to be able to experiment with these various CBD treats, there’s also something to be said for doing a little concocting in your own kitchen.
CBD oil blends well with a variety of foods and drinks, opening up endless possibilities for CBD recipes. The internet is full of kitchen-savvy CBD consumers, adding their favorite CBD oil or other CBD product to CBD recipes for everything from smoothies and appetisers to main dishes and even some tasty desserts. So, in the spirit of CBD epicurean exploration, we’d like to share with you some of our own canna concoctions.
A Quick Note on Cooking With CBD Oil
Most of the CBD recipes we’ll be sharing don’t involve a lot of cooking — that is, heating up the CBD oil. CBD oil loses its potency if it reaches a certain temperature. This is one of the reasons (along with exposure to light) that you should always store your CBD oil tincture in a cool, dark, dry place, like a cupboard or medicine cabinet. When we do cook with heat, we will be using recipes that stay below 117 degrees C. And we won’t place the CBD oil over direct heat.
As for the amount of CBD we’ll use in any given recipe, we’re going to stick with a simple formula: (number of servings in the recipe) x (recommended serving of the CBD product we’re using). So, if a recipe makes six servings and the recommended serving of a CBD oil tincture is 1mL of CBD oil, then we will add 6mL of CBD oil to the recipe.
But we say this with a caveat: everyone’s tolerance to CBD is different, and you need to factor in the tolerance of everyone who is partaking in the final product. Plus, you need to make sure that everyone is sticking to the recommended serving size. If you’re making a batch of brownies and throwing nine servings of CBD Sleep Oil Tincture into it, you should know that if you eat the entire dish, you’re taking nine times the recommended amount (so, don’t leave a wakeup call).
Be smart and be mindful of what the tolerance level is for you and anyone else who might be enjoying your CBD dish or drink.
What Are the Different CBDfx CBD Oils We’ll Be Using?
We’ll be working exclusively with CBDfx CBD products, primarily CBD oil tinctures. CBDfx is one of the most respected CBD brands in the world, and our organic CBD is lab-tested by a third party so that you know you’re always getting the highest-quality CBD, with none of the pesticides, solvent residues or other harmful chemicals that you might find in cheaper brands. We only cook with the best!
CBDfx has two different CBD oils.
Wellness CBD + CBG 2:1 Tincture
Our Wellness CBD + CBG tincture contains a perfect 2:1 ratio of CBD and CBG, known as the “Mother of All Cannabinoids.” Along with the antioxidant powerhouses, curcumin and coenzyme Q10, and a proprietary blend of terpenes, this CBD tincture is great for boosting overall health and well-being. Many people make it a staple in their daily wellness regimen. The flavour of this CBD oil is citrusy, with a tiny hint of turmeric. This tincture is a perfect addition to morning smoothies or summertime poolside drinks.
Hemp Tincture
Our very straightforward Hemp Tincture contains high-quality CBD oil and coconut-derived MCT oil, and is available in three strengths — 500mg regular strength, 1000mg extra strength, and 1500mg maximum strength. If you’ve never tried it before, we recommend beginning with regular strength and adjusting as you gauge your reaction to it.
During the course of the CBDfx Kitchen Classics series, we may also use other CBD products in our recipes. When we use these CBD products, we’ll take care to make a quick note about the product in use, so that you know what you’re dealing with when you’re putting together your CBD recipe.
All right, CBD chefs and bartenders. Ready to have some fun?
CBDfx CBD Recipes: Banana Berry Blast CBD Smoothie
Smoothies rule! Whether for a breakfast on the go or a midday treat, you can’t beat the cool flavour rush of a fruity smoothie.
Serves two.
Ingredients:
Directions:
Throw the strawberries, raspberries, banana, almond milk and ice in a blender. Give it a quick blend, then dizzle in the honey and CBD oil. Mix to preferred thickness.
CBDfx CBD Recipes: CBD Lemon Butter Sauce
Who doesn’t love a nice lemon chicken recipe, especially served over light pasta with a good sprinkle of parmesan! Here’s the perfect lemon butter sauce to take your chicken and pasta recipe to the next level.
Serves four.
Ingredients:
Directions:
Put a saucepan over low heat and add butter and garlic. Stir to make sure all the butter melts and the garlic cooks evenly. (Your kitchen will smell amazing.) Then, add all of the juice from the lemon, as well as the chicken broth and pepper flakes. Cook for two minutes, stirring regularly to keep the butter from sticking. Just before the sauce comes off the heat, sprinkle in your parsley. As a butter sauce, it’s ready to go now. But we want to add that extra boost of CBD oil. So, drizzle the sauce over your chicken and then drizzle the CBD oil over the sauce so that it is evenly distributed. Mix into the sauce with a fork and top with grated fresh parmesan.
CBDfx CBD Recipes: CBD Berry Parfait
It’s the summer, so we like our desserts to be cool and refreshing — and that means parfaits! This berry-filled parfait is quick and easy to make.
Serves two.
Ingredients:
Directions:
Mix your berries in a bowl, along with two droppers of CBDfx CBD oil. Take two parfait cups (or any two small cups, preferably glass) and cover the bottom of each with a small layer of crushed graham crackers. Then, add a layer of yogurt, pressing the yogurt down gently with the spoon so that it gets into the nooks of the graham crackers. Then, add a layer of berries. Repeat this layering until the cups are full. Add a thin layer of crushed graham crackers on top, along with a sprinkling of allspice.
