CBD Capsules for Post-Workout Recovery & Muscle Soreness

Many adults in the UK have found that CBD capsules offer a gentle boost in wellness, promote relaxation, and quiet minor aches and pains, which all can play a role in effective recovery.** Having a post-workout routine is essential for your fitness and wellness journey. But how do you tailor a routine for yourself? And how do you complement that routine with CBD capsules?

Much like other best-selling CBD products, capsules introduce cannabinoid-rich oil into the body, providing several therapeutic benefits.** But before adding them to your wellness plan, it’s important to know the different types of CBD, how capsules absorb into the body, and when to take them––all of which we’ll discuss below!

First, however, let’s look at what makes CBD, and other compounds like it, so unique.

What Is CBD?

CBD, short for cannabidiol, is one of the most abundant cannabinoids. These are chemical compounds native to hemp and cannabis plants. Others include CBG, CBC, CBN, and THC––the psychoactive cannabinoid. Our products are hemp-derived and have gone through an extra filtration process to whittle THC percentages down to undetectable levels.

Cannabinoids interact with your endocannabinoid system (ECS).** This system is a network of receptors that span all across your body, playing a vital role in physiological functions like sleep, mood, energy levels, and appetite.

When cannabinoids like CBD engage these receptors, they bolster the system’s performance and provide a list of wellness-boosting benefits.**

What Are CBD Capsules?

CBD capsules are soft gels, pills, or tablets containing a premeasured dose of cannabidiol-rich oil. These capsules process through your digestive system. Much like other edible CBD health supplements, capsules have a lowered bioavailability. This means that a percentage of cannabinoids get lost in the digestive tract, and don’t engage with your ECS receptors.

To help this problem and boost absorption, we add MCT oil to some of our capsules’ formulas. Cannabinoids are fat-soluble, meaning they bind with fatty molecules, like those found in MCT oil. This bond helps increase the number of cannabinoids that complete the trek and cross the finish line into your bloodstream.

Once inside your bloodstream, the cannabinoids go on to engage with your body’s ECS, inciting their host of benefits.**

But not all capsules are made with the same type of CBD. The type of CBD significantly impacts the type of effects you can expect after your workout.** So, before you add CBD capsules to your post-workout routine, it’s best to understand the nuances between the three types of CBD.

Full-Spectrum CBD

If you take a snapshot of CBD’s organic profile and formulate it into a potent, viscous oil, you’d essentially have full-spectrum CBD. This CBD has hemp’s full cannabinoid profile, including its low THC levels and host of aromatic compounds, like terpenes and flavonoids. Terpenes produce the plant’s taste and smell, while flavonoids give it its colour. These two natural compounds also offer their own set of therapeutic benefits.**

Different types of CBD offer varying levels of effects. The more cannabinoids in your CBD, the more profound your experience; this is because of the Entourage Effect. The Entourage Effect occurs when more than one cannabinoid engages your ECS receptors simultaneously, which enhances the other cannabinoids’ effects on the body, leading to a stronger CBD experience.**

But, real full-spectrum CBD products are prohibited in the UK. Our laws state that a CBD product must have less than 0.2% THC. Since full-spectrum products can have THC levels that reach 0.3%, you can see why this might be problematic. So, if you notice any products labelled as “full-spectrum CBD,” they’re either misleading you or you’re looking at an illegal product.

But there’s another type of CBD that offers similar benefits and comes with its own unique Entourage Effect: broad spectrum CBD.**

Broad Spectrum CBD

Our two CBD capsules come with broad-spectrum CBD. This type of CBD mirrors full spectrum, including its terpenes and flavonoids, but carries undetectable levels of THC. Since it has numerous cannabinoids, broad spectrum CBD offers a similar Entourage Effect to full spectrum CBD.**

Our collection of CBD capsules includes our CBD + CBG Morning Capsules. With 150mg of extended-release caffeine and several other energy-boosting ingredients, like L-tyrosine and rhodiola rosea, these capsules help kickstart the day––or energise a workout.**

Conversely, our CBD Soft Gel Capsules boast 25-50mg of high-quality broad-spectrum CBD per serving. Because there aren’t any additional ingredients, like with our morning tablets, our Soft Gel Capsules can be taken anytime during the day––especially after your workout.

CBD Isolate

Last, we have CBD isolate. This type of CBD contains 99% CBD. It has no terpenes, flavonoids, or non-CBD cannabinoids. CBD isolate is ideal for adults who’d like to experience the effects of CBD, and only the effects of CBD. You can find CBD isolate in our bath products or our flavoured CBD tinctures.

CBD Capsules for Post-Workout Recovery

So, how do you incorporate CBD capsules into your post-workout recovery? Well, it might sound counterintuitive, but try taking CBD capsules before your workout. Then, enjoy the compound’s soothing benefits right as your workout is coming to an end.**

When you take a CBD capsule, it needs to pass through your digestive system before reaching your liver, where the cannabinoids get ushered into your bloodstream. This route takes some time to complete––around 30 minutes to two hours. So, if you take your CBD capsules before a 60-minute workout, you should be able to feel their effects at the beginning of your post-workout routine.

Another option is finding a place in your schedule to take CBD capsules daily. Maybe right before your workout isn’t ideal, or you’d like to feel their calming benefits throughout the day.** By taking CBD capsules in your morning, midday, or nighttime routine, you can tailor their effects to when you need them the most. This method can be great for helping soothe minor aches and pains throughout the day or at night.**

Other CBD Products for Your Post-Workout Routine

CBD can help your post-workout recovery, whether as a capsule or a CBD gummy. Much like CBD pills, other products also tout the benefits of CBD––but in a variety of different ways.**

Take CBD topicals, for instance. Cannabinoids from topicals, like CBD creams and CBD balms, don’t enter the bloodstream. Rather, they filter through the skin and directly into the targeted areas, providing relief for minor aches and pains.** Products like CBD topicals let you pinpoint where you’d like to feel CBD’s calming effects on the body.**

Whichever product you choose, we wish you the best on your fitness and CBD journeys!
